WHY WE DO
WHAT WE DO

Forte Community Music Project was founded in 2017 to create a space where everyone could continue their music education, regardless of their past experience or financial ability.

Our Credo – Why We Do What We Do

At Forte, we believe high-quality music education should be accessible for all, regardless of your prior experience or financial ability. We understand the power music has to transform lives and communities; therefore, we are committed to uniting the world one note at a time.

Our founder, Mike Pope, grew up on the west side of Chicago in an area where kids like him didn’t make it to the age of 25. Several of his friends and loved ones have fallen victim to gun violence. He has unfortunately lost two friends to senseless gun violence. Our founder believes he beat those odds because he discovered music education at an early age and wants to assure others have the opportunity to discover music education for themselves. He went on to study classical voice at Lawrence University and is now a professional vocalist based in Chicago. He believes strongly in reinvesting his knowledge into the community.

Our Mission

Mission:
Our mission is to use high-quality music education as a vehicle to unlock the full potential of the communities and singers we serve.
